dancing with the stars...if it's anything like strictly ballroom, one of my favorite movies of all time, it might actually be the first good reality show! i just hope it has more dancing than drama.

one of my neighbor's friends was arrested for riding a horse drunk. only in rodeo country! (not memphis). but a horse has a mind of it's own, he wasn't operating a vehicle. and they can't get him for public drunk, because he wasn't walking...i love it!

glenn tilton, united's chairman and ceo, received $1.2 million in compensation in 2004, including a bonus of more than $366,000. the federal judge ruled that they did not have to pay pensions that people have been carefully planning on with the "new and improved personalization systems" for health care and social security. pensions that had been promised years ago were lost for a one-time bonus that took only minutes to decide. bethlehem steel had a similar situation, and goodyear appeared to be one of the next possibilities on the news last night. after a similar bonus for their ceo, goodyear workers already have to make monthly payments to keep their pensions...which is basically like cutting their pensions anyway, and kind of defeats the purpose in my opinion. my dad helped shut down one of their factories when people had guts. unfortunately, these people will also suffer for the lack thereof on the part of the younger generations. today's news mentioned a steady box office decline this year, and of course, it is obviously because of people's preference to wait until things come out on video...who prefers that huge blaring screen that's always blocked by a couple big heads in front of you anyway? it has nothing to do with the parallel decline of the economy. on another note, after annihilating the iraqi population, it looks as though bush has secured a reliable source of oil, which is resulting in lower gas prices. somehow, all of those dead innocent people don't seem worth the few cents we have been saving recently. i now regret ever having complained and recind anything i have ever said about the rising gas prices.

this is insane. i am potentially teaching at 2 different colleges for the next few upcoming falls and springs, but if i can't find anything for the summer, i will not make it until fall. i have now applied for a job i never thought i would apply for...security guard. i hate what i see and hear about all types of people who are supposedly "protecting" us and our country. i don't like the government, i don't like the military, and i don't like cops. i have convinced myself that this is somehow different, since it is too decentralized to be of any great harm, and the people i have met seem to be like me, just innocent citizens who want a decent job and who seem incapable of government "service". my grandmother was a security guard for a short time, too, although she wasn't crazy about it, and she is a good person. now i just have to convince myself that the uniforms resemble nothing other than those of generic pilots. i almost prefer what i would wear as a cocktail waitress. at least those are fun =op

looking for summer work...at this point, i have exhausted all of the reputable possibilities, even warehouse work. the one waitressing position i was counting on was going to call today or tomorrow. there is still tomorrow. but if that doesn't work, i am down to cocktail waitressing at a casino, where i will have to wear an outfit that i don't like. but aside from the outfit, what job could be more interesting?...look at all of the action movies about casinos =o) what stories i would have to tell my students in the fall! (maybe i could win bizarre teacher of the year?)

my brother is trying to figure out the significance of these 100 frogs...here are a few pictures http://badgertronics.com/photo/erie-frogs/ like most people, he is there for technological training, and like most people, he doesn't see the connection with frogs. personally, i like the frogs...i am more concerned with the way most of them are posing, lol.
