i momentarily lost a few very important things these past few weeks, and the loss and regain are some of the most overwhelming feelings i have had in a long time. it made me realize how losing everything must feel. i couldn't imagine it. it made me think of the victims of hurricane katrina and of every other tragedy that has resulted in great loss. somehow, the realisation that my recent losses could never compare didn't make me feel any better. but i am more thankful for what isn't really lost...and even more thankful for what never was.madame le professeur at 5:50 PM

how random...i just won tickets to the acc championship football game in december and might throw a football at half time to win $1,000,000, that would be funny. this is the first time i have ever (really) won anything, and this happens to be about the last thing i deserve to win, as i know nothing about football. i chose florida because i love the beach and haven't seen one in about a year! i can even bring a friend, but no one that i know really cares about football, or even going to florida! i have 2 or 3 friends who would die to see figure skating, as would i. it's a shame i couldn't trade the tickets for stars on ice tickets, lol. maybe i should just bring a friend to the beach and scalp the tickets for charity.madame le professeur at 11:47 PM

anyone who wants to read the words of an intelligent cajun poet, songwriter, and activist should visit zachary richard's site. he is an activist for the cajuns (formerly acadians who were forced by the english out of canada and into lousiana), working to preserve the culture of his people through his art. however, despite the fact that hardly anyone takes an interest in the history of his people, he is focusing on the present and future of america and trying to make a difference now. i am waiting for news about hurricane katrina (should be posted this wednesday) from what i consider to be a reliable source. you can find his website at zacharyrichard.com (and click on monthly report). if you want to know what really happened in iraq, you can click on 2004 reports - archives and read the december post. i invite anyone who could still possibly defend what is going on in iraq to comment. seriously, i am an open-minded individual who desperately wants to understand how you think.madame le professeur at 2:58 PM
