so much for midnight bowling...i just spent the majority of the last 48 hours sleeping. i normally need to catch up on my days off, but this is a disorder. 17 hrs. straight friday night, only to be awakened saturday afternoon by the sound of my ringtone from hell - i want a $600 phone just so i can have a nice ringtone, i don't care about any of the other features. unfortunately, that makes it just not worth $600 to me. when i realized i was starving, i got an awesome sub from lenny's, after getting ready (very slowly...somehow, it took over an hour). tired, but even more hungry. hungry wins, but tired put up a great fight. once hungry was satisfied, though, there was nothing to stop tired, and i slept another 5 hrs. somehow, although it seems i had just eaten, and the rest of my day consisted of only sleeping, nothing justified hunger, and i tried to bribe him with coffee, thus also fighting tired, which i anticipated would be back again as soon as hunger was gone. not long afterward, another false alarm. i assume it was false, since this is only about the 5th one this year, and now there is only one left to last the remaining 10 months. i wonder if it would work so well if someone actually broke in. that hasn't happened since it was installed, but this is another example of something that is just not worth knowing, a rare exception to my rule that it is always better to know than to wonder. i was really looking forward to bowling. but why are bowling alleys always in questionable parts of town and associated with bad things that happen? like that movie about columbine. this place looks like an abandoned 70's warehouse from the twilight zone and is sitting next to the admiral's benbow inn, which i think is servicing a few prostitution rings and is coincidentally across the street from an adult club and bookstore. one thing i did accomplish before falling asleep for 17 hours was a trip to "the futon store" for my new apartment. i avoid restaurants called "restaurant" and motels called "motel" - use some creativity! and they're also kinda scary...like that "benbow inn." isn't that misspelled? - but somehow i justify "the futon store," i guess because it is actually unique (you don't find them everywhere like those "restaurant"s and "motel"s), and it isn't scary, or maybe i'm just inconsistent. judging by my recent sleep patterns, or should i just say recent life patterns, i would say that's it. and i'm also insane, who personifies "hungry" and "tired"? another inconsistency, i started with 2 adjectives but i somehow switched one to a noun in the middle of everything. really tired. even a crazy professor doesn't understand that one. i finally accomplished something valuable today, reading 2 more novels that justify the 18th century feminist movement in europe. at least there is that progress. and this weekend was not completely wasted.

time to move already. my temporary situation was good while it lasted, but before i overstay my welcome, i plan to tour a funky midtown apartment this afternoon! it will be nice to have something permanent, by that i mean a year or two, until i am in a position to be granted tenure...the ultimate goal. and then, permanent can be as long as i want it to be.

i just made it back to my hometown of "stepford," and i have already seen things that remind me why i left. for example, i saw what i thought were overdue christmas lights, only to see that they are...valentine's day lights? anyway, that couldn't be farther from my mind right now, as i just learned that my dad is being sued for over $1000 for carpet damage in my brother's old apartment. what is america's fucking deal with suing people??? not to mention this is the second "carpet damage" incident that i am aware of (out of how many more?) in only the past few days! pay me the damn $1000 and i will clean the carpet, and that lady's coach purse too. a basketball player at the university where i teach was just convicted of domestic assault, and it will take until the end of basketball season for them to figure out how to punish him between seasons! how long does it take these people to decide to sue someone and for what amount? so to answer all the cops' questions who keep pulling over my fellow professor for her america upside down bumper sticker, what do you think it means? Public Law 829 (77th Congress) Sec. 4(a) : "The flag should never be displayed with the union down SAVE AS A SIGNAL OF DIRE DISTRESS." The flying of your Flag upside-down represents that you see "This Country IS In Crisis."

priscilla's is being sued after a waiter spilled wine away from the people and their table, onto the floor, where the lady set her purse for some reason. since the purse is a coach, serious precautions are taken in dry cleaning, which as a result, will cost $2000! my question, if you like eating at a restaurant, why are you trying to shut it down? if i believed in suing, i would sue her for intentional infliction of emotional distress, which is an actual tort.

my stupid human tricks: i can walk on my toes (as in they are under my feet), touch my nose and uvula (is that how you spell it? well, it's how i spell it.) with my tongue (but not at the same time, obviously), and my favorite, write left to right with my right hand while writing right to left and backward with my left hand. easier done than said? i think so.

i've been trying to figure out how much control we have over our dreams, in order to find a way to be even more daring than in real life - rather than being overly tactful, which i shouldn't even be in my strangest of dreams - just to see what would happen...even though it's just a dream. i haven't managed to figure it out consciously; however, i have managed for the first time last night to go off on someone who would be dangerous to treat that way in real life. it was refreshing at first, but then it seemed that she was ruining my life, and somehow i felt bad for her. it turned into a nightmare.

this is not my week. in addition to all of my routine clumsy moments (which i am used to) today, i managed to break off my key in the door...after deciding it was better to wait until i get home to use the restroom (don't try this at home, lol) i was in such a hurry, that i tapped a truck on my way out of the parking lot, avoiding an oncoming car which was swerving toward me to park, but no harm done (car incidents are included in my "routine," and this was nothing!) then i missed my street and didn't even notice because i was in such a hurry (is that an oxymoron?) hey, at least i have a new key now that works, all of the time...i have faith that it will. if things like this didn't happen, i can't imagine what i would be writing in my blog this week! on the other hand, i have been in a silly mood all week, obviously?, which may be the cause and not the effect of my situation. maybe it isn't a mood, maybe it isn't a situation, maybe it's my life...
